What he does at Pacific Throughput
Ryan starts every job by sitting down with the people doing the work. He learns how the process actually runs, not how it’s written down, and figures out where the time goes. Then he tells you plainly whether we can fix it, what the process costs you now, what the fix will cost, and how we’ll measure the change. If the answer is no, he’ll say so.
Once Jeff builds the fix, Ryan makes sure it fits how your team works and stays useful as your needs change.
Background
Ryan spent more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy running operations, training and support programs. He started aboard a ship at sea and went on to manage programs at overseas installations in Italy and Cuba, at commands in San Diego and Coronado, and at Camp David, where he earned the Presidential Service Badge. Across those jobs he managed people, budgets, facilities, schedules and volunteers, sometimes 150 at a time, and kept programs running when requirements competed and information was incomplete. He also ran large training programs, including one that certified more than 750 Marines and Sailors.
After the Navy he became a commercial insurance broker in San Diego. He handled the full cycle, from prospecting and discovery to proposals, renewals and service. That work is the cost side of a business: premiums, audits, claims and the paperwork behind them. It put him in a lot of San Diego back offices, watching how the work actually gets done and what it costs when it goes wrong. In one case he recovered more than $20,000 for a client by catching an overstated insurance audit.
He now also leads operations and business development for a San Diego technology manufacturer.
Ryan holds a business degree from the University of Arizona, graduating cum laude. He volunteers as a mentor with The Honor Foundation, helping service members move into civilian careers.
